Move to Bulawayo

In 1961 after my brother Peter was born we moved to Bulawayo where my dad helped build another substation. We spent 9 months there and then moved to Salisbury. My mother wanted a permanent home for us children and a proper education. Me moved to a flat in the avenues close to the Convent where my sister attended school and I went to David  Livingston. We lived in a 3 bed flat with a dog and complaints from our neighbours resulted in us moving again to Selous Avenue where we lived in a big old house opposite DL Junior. This was great for me as it was a stroll over the road to school.

About Me

I was born in Central Africa moving to Cape Town after 25 years. Having spent 17 years in the Cape South Africa, I moved to the UK 11 odd years ago. So I have had three different chapters in my life. Africa was really and increbible place to grow. Rhodesia, South Africa and Portuguese East Africa. The dry bush, the sudden rising of guinea fowl, a shrill cry of a fish eagle......all are indelibly printed along the folds of my mind. High granite Kopjes where the rich sound of singing birds, barking baboons and the cough of a leopard are all familiar sounds. How I miss Rhodesia. And then the Cape. Miles and miles of beaches, beautiful sea surf and sand. Vineyards, good wine, braais and Table Mountain. God saved that corner of Africa for me to experience so much joy and pleasure from just living near the sea. And now England. London, Brighton, Portsmouth... the Sussex downs. All this an hour from where I live. Gatwick airport and in an few hours I can be in Italy or the South of France. Wow I am truly blessed to live here. Except for the cold I don't have many complaints.
